About

Marshall Escamilla has done many things in his adult life. Originally hired as a math teacher at the Khabele School, he built up the music program there from scratch. In his 13 years at that school, the program went from non-existent to one of the central facets of the program there. Currently best known as a co-host and composer for the Tumble Science Podcast for Kids, Marshall has also worked with the podcast Extra Credit as a composer. In addition to his work in podcasting, Marshall has also played with multiple bands, fronting The Unbearables, Group Hug, and Stephen’s Island Wren, and playing with Austin bands like The Handsome Charlies, Oliver Rajamani, Hot Cotton, and more.

On top of all this, Marshall has been deeply involved in Austin’s local politics, advocating for denser, more walkable growth patterns and against the scourge of suburban sprawl. Marshall has been a member of organizations like AURA, Vision Zero ATX, and others. He served on the Austin Music Commission from 2015 to 2017.

Currently, he lives with his family in Barcelona.
